The Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County (EDB) announced today the names of the 76 Pierce County businesses that received grants through the Working Washington Small Business Grant (WWSBEG) program. Please see the attachment for the list of companies.

The grants range from $3,433 to $10,000 and may be used to cover operational expenses such as rent, utilities, and other allowable operational expenses. The companies receiving awards employ no more than 10 people and were drawn from a pool of more than 4,000 Pierce County applications.

“We are pleased to partner with the state, the Tacoma Urban League, and many other partners to offer these much-needed funds to companies that are working hard to stay in business during these historically difficult times,” stated Bruce Kendall, CEO of the EDB.

“Small businesses are job generators and product and service providers, and they provide the unique character of our downtown and neighborhood commercial districts,” said Washington State Department of Commerce Director Lisa Brown. “While we know there is much more to do, these Working Washington grants are designed to support them during this challenging time on the road to recovery.”

The grant recipients are in 16 cities and unincorporated Pierce County and represent a wide range of industries including healthcare, retail, restaurants, salons, childcare, manufacturing, education, and more. Grantees include 47 companies owned by women, 23 owned by minorities, 12 owned by veterans, and 1 that is tribal-owned. Note: some companies fit more than one category.
