Dr. Ali Modarres, urban studies director at the University of Washington Tacoma, challenged the audience to imagine even more cooperation in economic development.

The 38th Annual Meeting of the Economic Development Board for Tacoma-Pierce County was held March 2, 2016, at the Greater Tacoma Convention & Trade Center.

    The Force was with us.

In economic development “the Force” is the collective work we do to recruit and retain high-wage jobs in Tacoma-Pierce County. The more than 500 business, community and government leaders in attendance are all part of the network of private and public companies and organizations that deliver on this promise.

The EDB just completed a 13 month capital campaign called Compete Every Day Forever that raised more than $6 million to fund our work program for the next five years. The board thanks all who stepped up and became EDB investors. For the few of you who are still pondering your commitment – please know, our door is wide open and the welcome mat is out!

Watch on PCTV: Pierce County TV’s broadcast of the meeting on YouTube, or catch the rebroadcast on Channel 22 on Mondays at 5 p.m.; Tuesdays at 1 p.m.; and Saturdays at 10 p.m.
